Back for the first time in nearly a decade, Metal Works proudly hosted Steel Day on October 11, 2024!
Students from North State high schools showed up to try a variety of hands-on activities, including welding their own mugs to take home and engaging in live demonstrations of welding and cutting technology. Eleven high schools participated in the event.
While open to any metal enthusiast, Metal Works Steel Day was focused on students and visitors, showcasing the many great-paying career opportunities in the metal fabrication industry.
Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., students were encouraged to visit the various hands-on stations around the Metal Works campus and learn from the different fabricators at each station. Metal Works employees and industry professionals were on-site to assemble a steel structure and guide participants through various welding processes, including FCAW-G and SMAW.
All guests also had the chance to take guided tours of the Metal Works facility via golf carts, providing insights into our operations. The day was made even more special with the opportunity to win prizes and a delicious free lunch for all attendees.
A heartfelt thank you to the Butte College Welding Technology team, Rackley Erectors, McCarthy Custom Welding, PDM Steel, Steel Tube Institute, and MJB, for joining us and contributing to the success of Steel Day. We’re thrilled to have shared this day of learning and exploration with so many aspiring metal fabricators. We look forward to continuing to inspire the next generation in our industry!
